SOS Notes for Phoenix 14,000K 250 Watt Installation:
When installing the Phoenix 14K 250Watt lamp be very careful not to touch the glass.  If you do, wipe the glass down with alcohol and let it dry completely before starting the lamp. Once you installed the lamp be sure to replace the protective UV shield as these lamps produce ultraviolet light that can damage your eyes and any living animals in your tank.  This is normal installation procedures and precautions with any metal halide lamp used in aquariums.

great color and long life

bulb has great color, same as the double ended version. there is actually a double ended bulb inside of a bulb shell.proven to last at least a year with over 70% of original par, that's not bad because after the first month you down to the high 80% range. bulb is very durable, Ive had the bulb run for 5 hours and drop into the tank with no ill effects. just clean off the boiled off salt creep and away you go. keep in mind a phoenix 14k is closer to 20k as far as color temp goes. as mentioned the color is great but you pay for it as far as par goes. a 20k radium will produce better color and par but the price goes up. firing the bulb is a pulse start sunlight supply blue wave ballast(has to be pulse or electronic, a standard probe start will not fire. use a m80 or m153).
